Groundbreaking: 98MV Huatacondo

On Thursday, October 5, 2017, was carried out in the commune of Pozo Almonte, Chile, the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Huatacondo Photovoltaic Plant, a project developed by AustrianSolar Chile. The ceremony was attended by the Intendant of the Region of Tarapacá, Mrs. Claudia Rojas and the Under Secretary of Energy, Mrs. Jimena Jara, among other regional and communal authorities as well as representatives of both indigenous communities in the area and the companies responsible for the construction and financing of the project.

The project, developed by AustrianSolar Chile and acquired by a multinational consortium made up of the Japanese companies Sojitz Corporation and Shikoku Electric Power, in addition to the French company Eiffage SA, the latter also responsible for the EPC of the project, will have a power of 98 MW nominal to be installed on 350 hectares of public lands granted by the Ministry of National Assets of Chile. The commissioning of the project is scheduled for August 2018.
